What TrackMan actually does
TrackMan started in golf and missile-tracking radar before it took over baseball. The unit sits behind home plate and uses doppler radar to track the ball in flight — both directions. For pitchers, that means velocity, spin rate, spin axis, release height and side, extension, induced vertical break and horizontal break on every single pitch. For hitters, it captures exit velocity, launch angle, direction and projected carry distance on every batted ball. The point isn't the numbers themselves — it's what they settle. Is that new grip actually adding ride to the fastball? Did the swing change move average exit velocity, or does it just feel better? What Trajekt actually does
Trajekt Arc attacks a completely different problem: hitters almost never get to practice against the actual thing they'll face. Machines throw generic pitches. BP throws 60 mph strikes. Trajekt uses ball-flight data and video to physically recreate a specific pitcher — his release point, arm slot, velocity, spin and movement — pitch by pitch, with video of his delivery projected at the release window. Facing Friday's starter on Tuesday stops being a figure of speech.
